Crown Trade Clean Extreme ‘travels into the future’ with stain resistant durable technology for New Belfast Transport Hub.

The massive new Belfast Transport Hub project is entering its final construction phase where painting and flooring is being completed by CB Contracts ( NI ) Ltd.

The £ 200 Million project will deliver a modern, world-class integrated transport hub to enhance local and international connectivity with bus, coach and rail links across Northern Ireland and beyond. The facility will also include cycle and taxi provision delivering enhanced connectivity and comfort encouraging sustainable active travel for a healthier city.

The construction of Belfast Grand Central Station, a key NI Executive Flagship project, will significantly enhance the provision of public transport and active travel, drive economic development and play a major part in tackling the climate emergency.

When completed in 2025 it will be the largest integrated transport facility on the island of Ireland and will help Belfast and Northern Ireland to grow as a modern, competitive, and confident region.

The Hub will provide greater capacity with an increase to 26 bus stands, eight railway platforms, enhanced walking and cycling connectivity, greater comfort and accessibility encouraging greener, active travel for a healthier, smarter city. The associated Weavers Cross development delivered as part of the project will regenerate the lands around the transport hub and facilitate economic growth and urban regeneration, providing mixed-use commercial and residential space.

When deciding on finishing products for the project CB Contracts felt that due to Crowns Clean Extreme Stain Resistant Scrubbable Matts’ sustainability and environmental benefits that it was the perfect choice for the project.

This coupled with the unique ownership of Crown Paints by The Hempel Foundation meant that not only would the end users of the project have an excellent long lasting finish but also that sales of the product will fund empowering children to learn, making coatings more efficient and sustainable, whilst sustaining biodiversity and realising great initiatives that bring about positive change.

Ian McCormick from CB Contracts stated that….’The Crown product is excellent to work with on site and leaves a fantastic finish for the client to enjoy. Once the construction project is completed, CB Contracts and Crown Paints will have provided the end user with a finish that will extend their maintenance cycles due to the increased durability and stain resistant properties of the finish. CB Contracts are committed to sustainable solutions and as such have taken Crown Paints up on their offer of can re-cycling where no paint packaging waste is sent to land fill, all waste is re-cycled.’

It is estimated that 20 Million passenger journeys per year will benefit from the collaboration of finishes left by CB Contracts ( NI ) and Crown Paints.
