Crown Trade and CB Contracts ( NI ) Ltd share their ‘knowledge’ to provide a stunning finish to Ulidia Integrated College

The New £ 25 Million Ulidia Integrated College project is entering its final construction phase where painting and flooring is being completed by CB Contracts ( NI ) Ltd.

The new three-storey school in Carrickfergus, designed by Hamilton Architects, will accommodate 700 pupils throughout 43 classrooms in a 10,314 sqm building.
The much needed build will meet the demands of a broad curriculum which offers both Grammar and All Ability Pathways for learning.

Construction, by O’Hare & McGovern Ltd, includes state of the art 3G pitches and facilities for PE, a four times larger Technology and Design suite than is currently in place, a dedicated study and wellbeing space for Sixth Form and a stunning new library with far reaching views over Belfast Lough and so much more.

Colour Schemes were extremely important for the School and designers and, as such, various colour options were chosen to highlight the requirements. Crown Paints were able to match and advise on colour options during the school construction to provide a truly breathtaking finished product. Sandtex Trade X-treme X-posure ( by Crown Paints ) was chosen for the external masonry areas due to its long lasting benefits. A water based superior durable, smooth masonry paint which provides the best possible protection against weather exposure. This moisture vapour permeable & anti-carbonation coating system provides excellent opacity, protection and weather resistance. The product offers up to 20 Years Protection!

Crown Trades’ Clean Extreme Stain Resistant Scrubbable Matt was chosen for the internal broad wall areas which will provide extended maintenance cycles for the school due to its durable performance allowing for a reduction in maintenance costs in the future.

This coupled with the unique ownership of Crown Paints by The Hempel Foundation meant that not only would the end users of the School have an excellent long lasting finish but also that sales of the product will fund empowering children to learn as well as further philanthropical causes.

Ian McCormick from CB Contracts stated that….’The Crown products and services are excellent. Crown went above and beyond to provide the correct colour requirements for the School and ensure a seamless process for CB Contracts ( NI ) Ltd. We have also taken Crown up on their offer of can re-cycling as the correct disposal of packaging waste is a major priority for CB Contracts ( NI ) Ltd. None of CB Contracts paint packaging waste from this project goes to landfill and is all re-cycled by Crown Paints.
