Crown Paint helps to support The Largest Healthcare Investment in Irelands’ History
Crown Paints are being utilised in the delivery of Ireland’s new National Children’s Hospital in Dublin : the country’s largest single capital investment in healthcare. Once complete, the project will provide a world-class paediatric facility serving over a quarter of Ireland’s population.
The new National Children’s Hospital, which is being constructed by BAM, is a key government priority, focused on delivering the best and most appropriate child-centred care and treatments for Ireland’s children and young people. As well as providing world-class acute paediatric healthcare, the new facility will be the national centre for paediatric training and research for universities both in Ireland and Northern Ireland. The whole
project is driven by a passion for innovation and excellence in children’s healthcare: resulting in an environment that actively supports not only children and young people, but also their families and the hospital staff that look after them.
The project has been expertly decorated painted by Rathmore Coating Systems Ltd, leaving an excellent finish across the project. Noel Goss, owner of Rathmore Coating Systems Ltd, noted that he has been extremely impressed by not only the finish provided by the Crown Paints products used but also the service and availability of the Crown Team involved in the project. “ The scale and complexities of this project required a specific level of planning and service that the Crown Team have excelled in providing. I, and the Team, at Rathmore Coating Systems Ltd have been extremely impressed with the attention to detail and the ability to perform that Crown Paints have provided.”
90% of all the surfaces that can be seen or touched (circa 250,000 sqm of wall surfaces) in the project have been protected by a product from the Crown Trade Paints Clean Extreme family. The majority having been finished from the Clean Extreme Anti-Bacterial product range. These products not only provide a defence against bacteria such as MRSA and E.Coli but are also Stain Resistant and have been independently tested to ISO 11998 Class 1 Scrub rating, providing the best protection in high traffic areas.
This level of defence not only protects users of the building from various bacterial issues but also reduces the frequency of costly redecoration as the extra durability features will keep the building looking fresh and extend redecorating schedules.
The delivery of a project of this scale and complexity is a testament to the BAM management team, who have cultivated strong collaborative relationships with all subcontractors to achieve a high-quality outcome to the highest standards. All paints and sundries for the project were purchased through Crown Paints providing a ‘one-stop-shop’ for the contractors. Rathmore Coatings Systems Ltd and BAM also utilised Crowns’ Can-back scheme, where any paint can from any brand can be recycled through our CDC network.
The primary aim of this project—to create a centre of healing for children, alongside its secondary purpose as a centre for learning—closely aligns with Crown Paints’ commitment, through The Hempel Foundation, to strengthening foundational learning, and expanding access to quality education.
